Basic 10-Key Operation -- Office Mgmt 110

Course Description

This class is designed for students with little or no previous 10-key experience. The class emphasizes fundamental 10-key skills as well as technique. Speed is stressed and daily practice is expected in order for the student to gain sufficient skill and speed to pass the class. Touch 10-key operation without looking at the keys is taught.

Credit: 1 semester hour  |   Prerequisite: None

Learning Objectives

After taking this course, students will be able to:

  1.  Accurately input a given string of numbers
  2.  Finish inputting a string of numbers within a specified period of time
  3.  Input numbers on the 10-key keypad on a computer keyboard
  4.  Enter numbers without looking at the keypad

Outcomes Assessment

Students must demonstrate that they have learned basic 10-Key operation by accurately inputting a column of numbers within a specified period of time. Students will need to practice outside the classroom in order to meet this goal.

Student Test

In this course, only performance tests were given. Students had to accurately input specific columns of numbers within a limited period of time.
