After installing the Navajo font on all the lab computers, I taught the older
students how to type in Navajo. From copies of the Diné Education
Philosophy printed in both English and Navajo, I asked students to type
some text in both languages and then add a border and
clip art that represents their land.
The teachers were excited about this project. I created a display of these
pages for the regional student Art Festival: the entry won a ribbon and special
award.
Note: Since I do not read Navajo myself, I could not correct the native
language typing. |
